Albertsons Cos and ExxonMobil extends fuel rewards partnership to the East Coast

Partnership now includes Safeway, Acme, Shaw’s, Star Market stores on East Coast

The companies said that shoppers participating in the fuel Rewards program at Safeway, Acme, Shaw’s and Star Market supermarkets can now earn points from eligible grocery, pharmacy and gift card purchases and redeem rewards at about 1,500 Exxon and Mobil stations in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

The move expands the number of states where Albertsons Cos. stores offer ExxonMobil fuel rewards from three to 15. ExxonMobil and Albertsons launched their Gas Rewards program in 2018 for customers in Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming.

“Growing our Gas Rewards program with ExxonMobil provides our East Coast customers with a program that they love, at more fuel stations than ever before,” Angela Moore, director of shopper marketing at Boise, Idaho-based Albertsons Cos., said in a statement. “Our work with ExxonMobil exemplifies how two great companies can join forces to provide something that customers truly benefit from, both at the store and at the fuel pump.”

“Our customers have high expectations, so we are always finding new ways to drive value for them,” stated Eric Carmichael, Americas fuels marketing manager at ExxonMobil, working out of the energy giant’s Spring, Texas, campus. “We are excited to expand our strong relationship with Albertsons Cos. to offer even more opportunities for our loyal customers to save on their everyday fuel purchases.”

Overall, Albertsons Cos. operates 2,268 food and drug stores, including 1,739 pharmacies and 399 fuel stations, as well as 23 distribution centers, six Plated meal-kit fulfillment centers and 20 manufacturing plants.
