Profits up 27% for Slovania's leading fuel retailer

Petrol Group earned group net profit of €32 million for the first half of 2016. Lower business costs helped in lifting profit from €25.3 million of the last year.

Lower crude oil prices took net sales down by 6 percent to €1.7 billion. Sales prices of oil products in Slovenia, mostly higher compared to the neighbouring countries due to high excise duties and other taxes, had made negative impact on oil trade.

In the first half of 2016, Petrol sold 1.5 million tons of oil products which is 14 percent more than in the first half of 2015. Sales of liquefied petroleum gas soared by 86 percent and sales of electricity increased by 18 percent.

"The company will continue with its active sales policy, optimization of all business processes and efficient risk management," the company told in a statement. Petrol operates 484 fuel service stations in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro and Kosovo. "
