COPEC warns that fuel stations in Ghana may come under attack

The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers of Ghana (COPEC) has warned that some “rascals” may attempt attacking fuel stations across the country if election results do not go in their favour during and after the polls on December 7th.

Mr Duncan Amoah, the Executive Director of COPEC said there is credible intelligence on the ground that some people would not mind blowing up fuel stations in protest and hence security agencies must be on the alert.

“This time round, we should not only focus on polling stations; we should not only focus on security installations, fuel stations can also come under attack if care is not taken...we need to only raise alert for security agencies not to lose sight of these fuel stations.

A couple of fuel stations are cited sometimes deep into residential spaces and so you could imagine if one should blow up, what it would cause all of us,” he said.
