World's fastest water car stuns onlookers in Dublin

Onlookers were stunned today in Dublin City centre when they saw a car literally driving on the River Liffey.

Never before seen in Ireland, the world’s fastest water car – known as The Panther – paid its first ever visit to Irish shores to mark the launch of filling station Topaz’s miles fuel.

The vehicle is capable of reaching top speeds of 130kph on land and 72kph on water.

It took to the water and sped up the Liffey reaching top speeds of 72kph to the Ha’penny Bridge, with European Masters Wakeboarding Champion, Peter Stewart, in tow.

Stewart performed stunts to the delight of onlookers gathered on the city’s quays who watched on in amazement and taking snaps.

To make its aquatic trip, the water car was fuelled by miles – a next generation fuel containing a unique blend of additives designed to take motorists up to 3 per cent further.

Topaz’s Margaret Barron said: “Bringing the world’s fastest water car to Ireland for the very first time marks a significant milestone in the development and expansion of Topaz (Circle K Ireland).

“The spectacular activity on the River Liffey has firmly brought the ‘miles’ proposition to life and generated real excitement in the market for the arrival of our new, innovative fuel offering.
