Poland's largest oil refiner PKN Orlen is looking to expand non-fuel services, with some 50 new retail outlets by the end of the year. The company also has plans in the pipeline to open a bicycle rental services at some outlets
The refiner has about 1,760 service stations Poland-wide, of which 100 already have retail outlets. Meanwhile, some 1,500 service stations have a cafe.
At a recent press conference, PKN Orlen's investor relations director Dariusz Grębosz said the new bicycle rental service would be a new marketing strategy, and the bikes would bear the refiner's branding,.
“The new service will be set up in six cities. Thirty-six bicycle stations will be set up,” Grębosz said.
The bicycle rental project is expected to launch in spring 2018.
PKN Orlen is also expanding its car-sharing service. It is already available at about 30 service stations in Warsaw and Kraków, and is set to be launched in a further 19 in Wrocław, southwestern Poland, and Poznań, western Poland.
