Petronas and Saudi Aramco unveil corporate identity for joint venture

Petroliam Nasional (PETRONAS) and Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) have launched the corporate identity for their joint ventures in the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) located in Pengerang, Johor, Malaysia. The joint ventures are Pengerang Refining Company and Pengerang Petrochemical Company, which are collectively known as PRefChem.

This comes after both companies concluded the share purchase agreement in March this year, for equal ownership and participation in the operations of the refinery, cracker and selected petrochemical facilities in the PIC.

According to Colin Wong, senior VP and CEO of PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation, the circular movement of the logo represents collaboration, precision and bonding between PETRONAS and Saudi Aramco. Meanwhile, the blue and green colours portray PRefChem as a vibrant, dynamic and environmentally friendly company.

For president and group CEO of PETRONAS, Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee, the integrated partnership marks a “visionary move” by two companies, where both are able to leverage on each other’s strengths and share technical capabilities and experience for mutual benefit.

“Most importantly, this partnership was built on a shared vision and shared values that align a number of priorities for both parties including – upholding the ‘amanah’ or trust that both organisations have in contributing to our respective nations and its people,” he added.

Amin Nasser, president and CEO of Saudi Aramco, described the unveiling of the new corporate identity to be an “important milestone”, which is an integral part of Saudi Aramco’s refining and fuels marketing and chemicals business strategies.

He added that the new corporate identity will help in strengthening the company’s growth position in Southeast Asia through crude supply and world-scale downstream operations.

Malaysia also offers a “great opportunity” for the company’s downstream portfolio expansion in Asia, Amir Nasser said, and PRefChem’s strategic location in Pengerang will position the country as a regional energy hub, while enhancing energy security in the Asia-Pacific region.
