Couche-Tard acquisition of Topaz Ireland – The finer details

Couche-Tard investor filings reveal that €258 million in cash was paid for Ireland’sTopaz fuel and convenience retail network. The acquisition was completed in February after Topaz and Esso Ireland cleared nine bank charges, reported Petrolworld recently. The amount of debt of the businesses was not known or revealed at the time. The Topaz network is made up of 444 fuel service stations; 158 of them company-run and 286 run by dealers. The deal included more than 30 commercial fuel depots and two terminals. Both the Topaz and Esso stores will be renamed Circle K as part of Couch-Tard global brand strategy. In this regard, Couche-Tard moved quickly to install its own new directors which are Jorn Madsen, Lars Syse Christiansen, Joachim Roberg-Larsen, Gerard Ryan and Fiona Mahon.
