Phillips 66 partners with WEX for exclusive multi-year private label extension

FinTech service provider WEX signed on with Phillips 66 to handle exclusive private label and universal fleet card services.

“We’re proud to deepen our relationship with Phillips 66 and to leverage its powerful market presence, which has expanded nationally over the last few years,” said Jay Collins, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Small Business and Channel Partnerships at WEX in a press release.

“This extension reflects our mutual commitment to grow together by providing innovative payment solutions, world-class service, and a dedicated team to help Phillips 66 build its customer base and increase brand loyalty to the iconic Phillips 66, Conoco and 76 brands.”

WEX and Phillips 66 have partnered since 2010, the release said, to develop a sales and marketing program that depends on new payment technologies for fleet customers.

Under the multi-year deal extension, WEX will continue to be the exclusive provider of fleet cards and offer payment-related services to Phillips 66 customers. The details of the deal, including its duration, weren’t released.

“Phillips 66 is excited to extend our relationship with WEX, and we look forward to expanding our suite of fleet payment products to our growing customer base,” said John Barbour, manager of payments and card services at Phillips 66.

WEX focuses on delivering financial technology services across multiple industries including fleet, travel and healthcare. The company operates in more than 10 countries through nearly 4,900 associates.

In January, Phillips 66 announced a partnership with Honda Developer Studio on an in-vehicle fuel payment integration service that enables Honda vehicle owners to reserve a pump and pay for fuel at Phillips 66, 76 and Conoco locations.

The feature is accessible through the car’s in-dash infotainment system and enables drivers to find the nearest Phillips 66, 76 or Conoco station and pay for their gas purchase.

Phillips 66 was also able to integrate Mastercard’s Masterpass into its My Phillips 66 App last year, giving its customers the ability to securely and easily pay at the pump within its app. Through the partnership, Masterpass is accepted at more than 6,500 Phillips 66, Conoco and 76 locations in the United States.
