Romanian Competition Council analysing purchase of Art Petrol Romania’s downstream network by OMV Petrom

Romania's Competition Council is currently analyzing the possibility of a transaction by which OMV Petrom Marketing, a wholly owned subsidiary of OMV Petrom, would take over the fuel station network currently owned by Art Petrol Romania.

Art Petrol operates eight locations, all within the Southern area of Romania. Out of these, three are located in he Bucharest area, and two are container-type.

According to a press statement issued by the Romanian Competition Council it will “evaluate this economic concentration in order to establish whether it is compatible within a normal competitive environment”.

OMV, at the end of 2018, operated a network of 794 gas stations on the regional fuel market, under two brands, OMV and Petrom, covering Romania (564 stations), the Republic of Moldova, Bulgaria and Serbia and offering a complete range of products and services.
