Following Cumberland Farms acquisition, EG Group moving HQ to Massachusetts

EG America, a subsidiary of U.K.-based EG Group, is moving its headquarters from downtown Cincinnati to Cumberland Farms‘ headquarters in Massachusetts and laying off about 200 employees, according to the Cincinnati Business Courier.

EG Group first entered the U.S. market in April 2018 with the acquisition of Kroger’s 762 convenience stores. The company has continued to expand its U.S. presence with the purchase of 224 Minit Mart stores from TravelCenters of America, 70 stores from Certified Oil and 54 stores from Fastrac.

Most recently, EG Group announced the acquisition of Cumberland Farms’ 562 locations, completed on Oct. 22. EG Group now operates nearly 5,400 stores, in nine countries with over 35,000 associates. The move will be effective Jan. 1, 2020.
