Statoil Retail trials standalone C-store

Statoil Fuel & Retail Lativa has opened its first stand alone c-store in the old part of Riga, Latvia’s capital city and plans to open similar stores in other parts of the town. Statoil Fuel & Retail Latvia Executive Director Gunta Jekabsone said that the company is not afraid of competition in the Old Town of Riga. She reminded those assembled that Statoil started its Latvian fuel retail business 20 years ago and now has started work in a new niche, which for us, she said, is “a big step forward”. The store will offer coffee, hotdogs, fresh pastry, milkshakes, fresh juice and other convenience goods. The Baltic States are the first to test the new concept in Europe with stores opened in Tallinn and Vilnius. From May 2016, all Statoil fuel filling stations in Scandinavia, Baltics, Po- land and Russia will be gradually renamed to new retail brand Circle K and will eventually replace Couche-Tard’s retail brands, including Mac’s, Kangaroo Express and Statoil. Statoil Fuel & Retail Latvia generated €393.6 million in sales last financial year.
