Before the end of the year Shell plans to equip 20 of its petrol stations in the Netherlands with rapid car charging points.
In this way the Dutch oil and gas giant wants to provide for a growing need - the number of electric cars in the Netherlands is increasing rapidly, ANP reports.
Initially 10 stations in the Randstad area will be equipped with rapid charging points. "That's where the greatest density of electric cars is", a spokesperson for Shell said, according to the news wire.
Before the year is over, the company wants between 15 and 20 petrol stations equipped to charge electric cars.
The license applications are underway. In addition, Shell also has to make sure that the relevant petrol stations have adequate electricity supply for the charging points.
