Shell Malaysia is looking to increase its revenues from retail stores at its service stations by 50% by implementing a brand new retail concepts and upgrading its stations. Datuk Azman Ismai, managing director of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd, explained how the company wants to have thirty Shell Select stores with the ‘food oasis’ design and 100 more up- graded to a premium format, reported The Star. The redevelopment of the stored would be tailored to the demands of the local market, as well as general improvement in the design of toilets, seating areas and other services such as Wi-Fi. “We pre-select the combination of foods to meet the needs of the community, and prior to this, we will do customer research in the locality of the selected store to understand the needs of the community in order to give them the added value versus other places,” said Azman. Shell Malaysia has a network of around 400 gas stations in the country, of which 130 are to be included in the new redevelopment.
