Five illegal filling stations busted in Hong Kong

Five men were arrested and five illegal fuel-filling stations siezed in a two-day operation in the Hong Kong regions of Tsing Yi and Tuen Mun.

The Fire Services Department collaborated with the police and customs to mount an operation starting yesterday (Dec 6) to combat illegal refueling stations.

Five men aged 37 to 57 were also arrested, and their roles in the illegal operations are still under investigation.

During the operation, they were also able to seize three oil tanks and a large amount of fueling equipment, along with 25,000 liters of diesel with a market value of about HK$560,000.

The fire service department pointed out that they often use trucks to hold the oil barrels to disguise themselves as regular trucks.

They would also often change their business, model, locations, and operating hours
