Asda and retail trade union Usdaw have signed an agreement for Usdaw to “recruit and represent” hourly paid staff in the UK, working in former EG Group convenience stores and restaurants recently acquired by Asda.
The new agreement covers Euro Garages and Leon Restaurants, and will see Usdaw negotiate on pay, hours and holidays for hourly paid staff across the 356 convenience stores and 77 Leon restaurants in the UK owned by Asda.
The supermarket group purchased the forecourt giant at an enterprise value of £2.07bn in October 2023, which Asda chair Lord Stuart Rose said would “create more opportunities for Asda to bring that focus on value to even more communities”.
