OKQ8, in collaboration with Fossil Free Marine, is establishing a new state-of-the-art floating, unmanned facility with renewable fuels for maritime traffic on Lidingö in Stockholm. It is located directly adjacent to OKQ8's already existing gas station in Islinge.
As part of the transition to sustainable boating, OKQ8 is now investing in Fossil Free Marine's platform, which is designed to meet the same environmental and safety requirements as an unmanned station on land.
The platform sets a new standard for the safe and environmentally sustainable storage and distribution of liquid fuels, including modern biofuels such as Neste My Renewable Diesel (HVO100). In principle, all boats with diesel engines can switch to renewable fuel (HVO100) without any intervention in the engine or driveline.
This is estimated to reduce the share of carbon dioxide emissions by 40 percent according to a study done in 2019/2020 by Point! INC.
