Bangchak focusing on pets to boost non fuel income

Thai oil major Bangchak is expanding its non-oil business, diversifying into pet care to benefit from increased pet ownership by opening pet shops at its petrol stations.

The company is cooperating with music business operator RS Group to jointly develop new retail shops called "Pet All My Love".

Bangchak is interested in the pet business because more younger customers are owning a larger number of pets, said Chaiwat Kovavisarach, chief executive and president of Bangchak.

The company plans to open its first pet shop in Bangkok soon, eventually rising to 20 branches at Bangchak petrol stations, said Mr Chaiwat.

Roughly 100-200 million baht is expected to be allocated for this project, he said.
