ColVic Expands South African Training Centre to meet increased demand for KPS Piping

Since 2011, ColVic, the leading OPW distributor in South Africa, has grown KPS market penetration from a zero base to 35%. This has resulted in a large increase in the need for engineers trained in the installation of KPS piping. To satisfy this, ColVic has more than doubled the size of its Johannesburg training facility.

ColVic Marketing Director Mike Welman said: "The additional investment in the only OPW-accredited facility in Africa followed burgeoning sales of KPS products and growing demand for quality installations among customers. From the get go, we backed KPS’ policy of requiring all installers to undergo training, as well as refresher courses, at a certified training centre before they were supplied with pipe for fitment on site. As sales have grown, we have seen a corresponding increase in the demand for training to the point where our South African training centre at its previous size could not cope."

Project engineers from oil companies also take part in training at the centre to gain a more comprehensive understanding of how KPS piping and other products should be installed.

ColVic’s South African training centre is located in Johannesburg and offers theoretical as well as practical training on all aspects of KPS piping, products in the Fibrelite range and related HSSE procedures.

The increased training capacity enables us to meet current demands and underpin a renewed sales and marketing drive to further penetrate the South African market.

The centre offers training on all aspects of KPS products.

As well as meeting South African needs, the increased capacity also enables ColVic to consider its options for expansion into other countries in Africa in conjunction with OPW, using the capability resident at the training centre to underpin the initiative.

Our additional investment in the new training facility underlines our commitment to OPW, a company with which we believe we can continue to foster a relationship based on an understanding of the importance of customer centricity supported with quality products and installations.
