Record turnover for Dutch forecourts

Fuel stations in the Netherlands achieved a net turnover of 12.94 billion euros (ex VAT) in 2022. This is not only a record, it is also a turnover growth of 18.2 percent compared to 2021 when net sales in the petrol station sector amounted to 10.95 billion euros.

Compared to 2020, turnover growth is as much as 26.5 percent. This was largely due to the surge in fuel prices following the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the resulting energy crisis.

However, it’s worth noting that the future of fuel stations in the Netherlands is uncertain. With the rise of EV's, many smaller, unmanned petrol stations are expected to close in the next decade.
