The Pemex franchise is increasing its prescence in Mexico with 200 new service stations planned in the coming months. There are already 45 gas stations open between January and February, while the regulatory body has the authorization of 150 fuel dispensing points in the country at the door.
This will allow this line of business of the state-owned productive company to reach almost 87 percent of the market, explained Miguel Yasser Vicente, coordinator of Transportation Fuel Marketing. Participating in the Synergía 2024 Forum, he highlighted the recovery over the last three years after the boom caused by Mexican and foreign private brands.
"Our growth in recent years comes from opening new stations or recovering some that changed brands. We went to different parts of the country to inaugurate new gas stations, between January and February there are 45; Waiting to be able to have the permission of the regulatory body, we have around 150 planned to start operations in the following months," he explained.
Within the Synergy Forum, he recognized the preference of regional private capital to use both the brand and the product. This allowed them to recover almost 20 percent of the gas stations previously in the hands of the competition, to place about 87 percent of the presence.
"Pemex's strategy has been aggressive as much as possible in terms of supply, prices and in general within the value offer. In all fuels, the brand is strengthening, relying on all customers and is reflected in the numbers, including LP gas, diesel and jet fuel," said the official.
