ADAC reports poor quality at German sites

The German automobile and roadside assistance organization ADAC visited 40 Raststätten, so-called stopping points, in Germany and was shocked by what they found there. The organisation rated the convenience locations along German roads as 'disappointing' in general, with six Raststätten being labelled 'poor'.

ADAC, Europe's largest automobile club with around 21 million members, visited 40 of the total 440 Raststätten spread across Germany in the period between May and June 2024.

The stops where motorists can refuel, load, eat, drink and sometimes spend the night were visited a total of four times and were assessed on the criteria of 'gastronomy', 'prices', 'sanitary facilities' and 'extra facilities'.

According to the car club, the results are 'sobering'. None of the locations tested received a 'very good' rating, and only eight stops scored 'good'. 26 were rated 'adequate' and six failed completely and come off as 'poor'.
