Sinopec builds first H2 station in Hong Kong

Sinopec has officially opened Hong Kong's first public hydrogen fueling station, located in Yuen Long, New Territories. This pioneering station is the first in Hong Kong to integrate multiple fueling options including oil, gas, hydrogen and electricity.

During the completion ceremony, Tse Chin-wan, the Secretary for Environment and Ecology of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, highlighted the government's efforts to advance hydrogen energy applications.

These efforts include breaking down regulatory barriers and promoting innovative projects that align with the Hong Kong Hydrogen Energy Development Strategy announced earlier.

The HKSAR Government is also actively working towards establishing a regulatory framework conducive to the growth of the hydrogen industry. It plans to propose amendments to the Gas Safety Ordinance next year, aiming to introduce a certification model for "green hydrogen" or "low carbon hydrogen" by 2027.

This initiative is expected to position Hong Kong as a base for the green hydrogen industry, showcasing pioneering energy solutions that could serve as a model for other cities globally.
