Fuel station redefines luxury in South Africa

Celebrated South African chef David Higgs and seasoned entrepreneur Gary Kyriacou have revolutionised a space most would never associate with luxury: the petrol station.

Pantry by Marble, their high-end forecourt in Joburg, blends convenience with gourmet offerings, setting a new standard for what a petrol station can be.

This unique venture was born during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and stands as a testament to their ability to adapt and innovate.

Pantry by Marble offers much more than just fuel – it serves up fine wines, premium coffee, fresh local produce and gourmet meals, all in a setting designed for comfort and top-tier service.

Pantry, located in Rosebank, Johannesburg, is open 24 hours a day and aims to create an experience that brings hospitality into the everyday convenience of filling up your tank.

Despite some initial setbacks, including the absence of a retail licence for petrol sales at launch, the business quickly exceeded expectations, drawing customers not just for the fuel but for the exceptional service and quality food.

With its carefully curated ambiance, attentive staff and focus on delivering high-end service, Pantry by Marble represents the duo’s commitment to excellence and their continuous push to redefine traditional industries.
