Vexxil Energy to open first retail store in US

Vexxil is expanding into convenience stores through a partnership with 68 Ventures, a development and investment firm that’s based in the US Gulf Coast. Both companies are headquartered in Daphne, Alabama.

While it’s unclear how many c-stores Vexxil is looking to open, each location will feature a made-to-order food program and locally sourced products, according to the announcement.

“These state-of-the-art facilities are designed to serve the Gulf Coast communities with exceptional service, modern amenities, and a focus on meeting the unique needs of local residents and businesses,” Vexxil said in its announcement.

Representatives from Vexxil and 68 Ventures did not respond by press time to a request for more details of the companies’ c-store venture.

Last summer, ExtraMile President Brian Sardelich said in an interview that the retailer, which is co-owned by Chevron and Jacksons Food Stores, aspired to grow its store count from 1,100 locations at the time to 2,000 by 2029. He added that the bulk of these locations would open within three years, with the Southeast being a focal point of the company’s expansion.
