Refuel only those with helmets & seat belts

Jammu, a city in northern India, convened a meeting with members of the Petrol Pumps Association and divisional heads of oil companies to discuss the implementation of road safety measures to check traffic violations and minimise accidents.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ansuya Jamwal, emphasised the need for active cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure road safety and minimise violations. Petrol pump operators were directed to permit refuelling only for motorists wearing helmets or seat belts.

They were also instructed to prevent congestion inside and outside their premises and to deploy staff to regulate vehicle movement. All petrol pump owners were asked to install CCTV systems with extended video storage to assist enforcement efforts.

Petrol pump operators have also been asked to display safety advisories prominently and to ensure that their premises were not used for unauthorised parking, boarding and deboarding, which often leads to congestion.
