OKQ8 and Skellefteå Kraft are expanding their focus with EV charging from traditional service stations to retail and shopping centers across Sweden.
This new initiative aims to make EV charging more accessible in everyday settings, accelerating the country’s transition to sustainable transport.
Until now, the collaboration has centered on installing ultra-fast chargers at staffed OKQ8 locations, with a total of 800 charging points expected to be in place by 2026, all powered by renewable electricity from Skellefteå Kraft.
The new strategy marks a significant shift, from drivers having to seek out charging stations to integrating charging into everyday life. By installing chargers at locations such as supermarkets and shopping districts, the aim is to encourage more people to choose electric vehicles by making charging part of routine errands.
