Volkswagen is currently pointing out a scam on the Internet: Criminals are offering non-existent used cars at particularly low prices on deceptively real fake websites, especially for customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
According to the company, the fraudulent sites imitate official VW sales channels and use fake contact details and bank details to persuade potential buyers to make advance payments.
VW emphasizes that these platforms and offers are not real. Those affected or whistleblowers should notify the police immediately. In recent weeks, the carmakers Mercedes-Benz and Audi, the fleet operator Bw Fuhrpark Service and the mobility service provider Arndt had already warned against this rip-off.
