MFG adds 1,000th ultra-rapid EV charging bay

Leading UK fuel retailer Motor Fuel Group (MFG) has added its 1,000th ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging bay in the UK, through its MFG EV Power division.

12% of all rapid charging stations in the UK are now operated by MFG EV Power, four years after the company began its EV charging rollout.

The bays are installed across 170 hubs nationwide, and MFG expects to reach 3,000 ultra-rapid chargers across 500 sites by 2030.

MFG will also install rapid EV charging hubs at 300 Morrisons car parks, with 66 chargers already installed, and 150 more to come within three months.

In April 2024, MFG acquired 337 Morrisons petrol forecourts, and 400 development plots in Morrisons car parks, and the company intends to install EV chargers at all suitable locations in its network by 2035.

William Bannister, CEO at MFG, said: “When we launched our EV roll-out in March 2021 we committed to investing ahead of the curve in ultra-rapid chargers. “I am therefore delighted that we have already passed the 1,000 ultra-rapid charger milestone.

“Not only are we rolling-out chargers at a rapid pace, we are also ensuring that the customer experience is of the highest quality both through the ease of use of our chargers but also through the upgrade of our adjacent convenience retail, food service and vehicle valeting offer – investing £170m in 2025 alone.

“Our commitment to EV is unwavering and I look forward to the continued growth of our network as MFG meets the national EV infrastructure requirement.”
