Jugopetrol said it plans to open in early 2026 the first fuel station on the Bar-Boljare motorway that would link the country's Adriatic coast in the south with its northern border with Serbia. Construction works have been in progress and their completion is anticipated by the end of the year
In 2024, state-owned motorway operator Monteput awarded a 25-year land lease contract to Jugopetrol to build the fuel station at the Gornje Mrke rest stop on the motorway, north of the capital Podgorica.
Earlier this year, Monteput and Jugopetrol signed a similar contract for the construction of a second fuel station on the motorway - at the opposite lane at the Gornje Mrke rest stop.
Jugopetrol is the largest fuel retailer in Montenegro, operating a network of 50 fuel stations as at the end of September.
Austria-based Helleniq Energy International, part of Greece's Helleniq Energy, is the majority shareholder in Jugopetrol with a 54.35% stake. The remainder is held by a number of minority shareholders.
