10 injured when snow collapses canopy

Nearly a dozen people were injured after two canopies collapsed at two Mississippi gas stations on TuesdayThe recent winter storm caused the canopy at Rick’s Express on Broadway Extended in Greenville to collapse under the weight of ice.

The Greenville Fire Department was called to the scene and confirmed the canopy fell onto several vehicles, causing major damage. Ten people were taken to the hospital with various injuries. Some of the injuries were serious, officials said.

A short time later, a similar canopy collapsed at B-Quik on Reed Road. One injury was reported at B-Quik, with several vehicles sustaining damage. The areas around both gas stations were blocked off as fire crews cleared debris.
