Jugopetrol gets go-ahead for motorway fuel station

Montenegro's Jugopetrol gets go-ahead for second fuel station on Bar-Boljare motorway. The investor, however, must comply with all measures and technical standards envisaged in the project documentation, EPA said in a statement last week.

In July, Jugopetrol signed a 25-year land lease contract with state-owned motorway operator Monteput for a fuel station at the Gornje Mrke rest stop on the future Ba-Boljare motorway that will link the country's Adriatic coast in the south with its northern border with Serbia.

The fuel station along with accompanying retail and rest area will spread on 22,000 sq m, as per the project documents uploaded on EPA's website.

In 2024, Monteput and Jugopetrol signed a similar contract for the construction of the first fuel station on the motorway - at the opposite lane at the Gornje Mrke rest stop. Jugopetrol has said the fuel station will open in early 2026.

Jugopetrol operated a network of 50 fuel stations at the end of September. Austria-based Helleniq Energy International, part of Greece's Helleniq Energy, is the majority shareholder in Jugopetrol with a 54.35% stake.
