Billionaire group taking over South Africa

Astron Energy has reached a major milestone in South Africa with its rebranding program and the unveiling of its 700th site in Villiersdorp in the Western Cape.

This was announced by the group on Monday, 14 April. They explained that the achievement builds on the progress since the launch of its rebranding programme in 2022.

It also reflects the dedication of teams across the business, as well as strong collaboration with retail partners and all other stakeholders. “The initiative is one of the most significant transformations in South Africa’s fuel industry in over three decades,” the group said.

Astron Energy operates the country’s second-largest petroleum retail network, with more than 800 service stations nationwide. “We are thrilled to celebrate reaching nearly 90% of our network, signalling that the programme is approaching completion,” the group added.

Astron Energy Retail and Marketing General Manager John Bailey said the milestone reflects strong progress against an ambitious national rollout. “Rebranding 700 sites has been a significant undertaking.
