BYD and Sinopec have opened their first jointly developed Flash Charging flagship station in East China at a former petrol station near Shanghai’s Hongqiao transport hub.
The site has six BYD Flash Charging units and nine conventional fast chargers, with second-generation Blade Battery vehicles capable of charging from 10% to 70% in five minutes under specified condition
Located at 1209 Huqingping Highway near Shanghai’s Hongqiao transport hub, the facility represents the first major project completed since BYD and Sinopec signed an industrial and capital cooperation framework agreement in June.
The petrol business at the location has been shut down. Former fuel-pump positions have been replaced with EV chargers, while part of the former fuel-storage area has been converted for battery energy storage.
Six Flash Chargers and Nine Fast Chargers
The site is open to electric vehicles from all brands and is equipped with six BYD Flash Charging units and nine additional fast chargers.
For compatible BYD vehicles equipped with the company’s second-generation Blade Battery, BYD says charging from 10% to 70% can take around five minutes under normal-temperature conditions, while reaching 97% takes approximately nine minutes.
The station also uses suspended charging cables and lightweight connectors intended to make the high-power chargers easier to handle.
Drivers who have linked their vehicle and payment information can use plug-and-charge functionality at compatible BYD Flash Charging stations, eliminating the need to initiate each session manually.
Sinopec’s 30,000-Station Network Provides Expansion Opportunity because of the scale of its existing retail network.
