Petronas, which has been buying oil blocks in the country, is now targeting the distribution segment. The goal is to reach the end of this year with 350 gas stations, with a presence in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, as well as states in the South and Midwest regions.
The growth of the Malaysian brand in Brazil will take place organically and also with the conversion of part of the network of 240 stations that belonged to the French Total.
"Three years ago, Petronas defined its global growth plan in the area of fuel distribution, until then restricted to Malaysia. The company wants to have five thousand stations in the world and started this strategy in Brazil, where the goal is to reach a thousand stations - said Ian Dobereiner, CEO of Nexta.
