Motorists reveal their pet hates

In Queensland Australia, motorists were asked to rank their biggest petrol station pet peeves with motorists sitting in their cars on their phones after filling up (37%) topping the list.

The research revealed out-of-order signs on fuel pumps (33%), drivers blocking access to pumps when not buying fuel (28%) and motorists parking in the last bay instead of moving forward (26%) were also key frustrations.

RACQ spokesperson Tristan Vorias said the findings showed small acts of courtesy could make a big difference, particularly during peak periods.

“When drivers linger at the pump or block access unnecessarily, it can slow traffic through the petrol station and add to frustration for other motorists,” Mr Vorias said.

“Good petrol station etiquette comes down to being aware of others. A little patience and consideration can help make the experience smoother for everyone.”
