Transylvania motorway gets first fuel station

Rompetrol Downstream opened the first fuel stations on the Transylvania Motorway (A3) today, located in the Sanpaul area, just 20 kilometers from the city of Targu Mures, and marks a first for this type of infrastructure along this road corridor.

“By opening these new fuel stations, we mark a premiere, as well as continuing our strategic expansion throughout Romania, establishing Rompetrol Downstream as a company that reaches customers, directly addressing their mobility needs and expectations along a major road corridor.

We will continue to progress in this direction and provide in the market spaces fully adapted to modern requirements, where they will find not only high-performance fuels, but also complete service areas,” said Arman Kalabayev, General Manager of Rompetrol Downstream.

The two new units, built following an investment of approximately USD 4.8 million, operate within the service areas on the A3 Motorway, Campia Turzii–Targu Mures section, under a service concession agreement concluded with the National Road Infrastructure Management Company (CNAIR).

“The completion of these new fuel stations on the A3 Motorway complements the 12 stations opened in 2023 on the A1 Nadlac–Sibiu Motorway. Our development strategy continues to focus on increasing our national presence by capitalizing on opportunities in Romania’s distribution segment,” added Laurentiu Coltanel, Network Planning and Development Director at KMG International.

Each fuel station has a surface area of 271 square meters and incorporates a premium food and retail concept, based on the model the company first launched in 2023 for motorway service areas. The opening of the Sanpaul facilities has also created more than 30 new jobs in Mures County.
