Petrotec modernises Angola’s downstream infrastructure

Pedro Serrenho, Africa regional manager of Petrotec Group, talks to The Energy Year about the growth and modernisation of Angola’s downstream infrastructure and the growing role of digital systems in improving operational visibility, efficiency and compliance.

Angola’s downstream sector is becoming more sophisticated, driving investment in modern infrastructure, network management and digital systems that improve reliability, efficiency and customer service.

Digitalisation and cleaner mobility technologies are reshaping downstream operations, with greater use of monitoring and payment systems alongside the gradual integration of EV charging infrastructure.

Petrotec sees Angola as a strategic platform for its African growth, with the country’s industrial capabilities and technical development creating potential for local manufacturing and exports to neighbouring markets.

Question; How would you describe the role of Petrotec Group in Angola’s energy infrastructure landscape?

Petrotec is a European leader in forecourt manufacturing, which is where our journey began. Today, we operate across the full energy value chain, from downstream to upstream activities, delivering integrated EPC, engineering, manufacturing and technical service solutions.

Our capabilities span the full energy value chain. Upstream, we support brownfield projects, maintenance and turnarounds. In the midstream, we deliver storage and transportation infrastructure, and in the downstream, we combine fuel retail infrastructure, automation, payment systems and operational technologies into integrated solutions.

Engineering remains at the heart of what we do. We help clients design, develop and implement infrastructure solutions, and then we manufacture, build and support those assets throughout their lifecycle. Outside oil and gas, our expertise extends into the mining, aviation, defence and maritime industries, where we aim to support infrastructure development while contributing to Angola’s broader industrialisation objectives.
