TotalEnergies strike will disrupt fuel supplies

A nationwide strike at TotalEnergies today could cause disruptions to fuel supplies in France. The French trade union CGT has called on workers at refineries and petrol stations to walk out, according to Frankrijk Actueel.

The strike follows a proposal by TotalEnergies to pay employees a one-off advance bonus of 1,000 euros, ahead of the annual pay negotiations in December. The CGT is not satisfied with this and is demanding, amongst other things, structural pay rises, more permanent employment contracts and better working conditions, partly due to the current staffing pressures on safety and operational teams.

The strike could have a direct impact on fuel supplies in France, reports Frankrijk Actueel. According to CGT spokesperson Eric Sellini, fuel deliveries from refineries could be delayed or blocked, depending on strike participation and local decisions. Petrol stations may also face supply restrictions. This includes outlets operated by Argedis, the TotalEnergies subsidiary that runs various petrol stations along French motorways.
