MOL approved to acquire Agip petrol stations in Slovenia

The European Commission has cleared Hungarian energy group MOL to take over the Slovenian and Hungarian subsidiaries of Italy's ENI. MOL will thus be able to acquire 17 Agip petrol stations in Slovenia. "The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns given the small increments brought by ENI Hungaria and ENI Slovenija and the remaining strong competitors in the affected markets”. The takeover in Slovenia enables MOL to expand its network of 40 petrol stations in the country by 17 so far operating under the Agip brand, including two in the capital Ljubljana, where MOL has not been present this far. The takeover will solidify MOL's place as the third-largest fuel retailer in the country.
