S&G Stores acquires 12 Barney’s convenience stores

Eleven of the 12 stores are branded BP and one is branded as an Amoco.

Barney’s, Perrysburg, Ohio, started in 1966 as Big Barney Auto Wash and has since evolved into Barneys Convenience Stores. The chain employs approximately 100 employees.

S&G Founder and CEO Dan Ridi said he will retain Barney’s employees and operate the 12 acquired stores under the BP fuel brand. He added that S&G is positioned to continue growing throughout the Midwest.

Established in 1999 as Stop and Go Stores, Sylvania, Ohio-based S&G has grown to 74 units in and around the Toledo and Dayton, Ohio, markets.

S&G Stores ranked No. 106 on CSP’s 2021 Top 202 list of the largest c-store chains in the United States.
