TVS Motor Company and Jio-bp to collaborate on EV solutions

TVS Motor Company and Jio-bp have announced their agreement to explore the creation of public electric vehicle charging infrastructure for electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers in India, building on the growing network of Jio-bp.

Under this proposed partnership, TVS customers should have access to Jio-bp’s extensive charging network, which is also open to other vehicles.

Jio-bp, a joint venture of Reliance Industries Ltd and BP Plc, recently teamed up with Mahindra Group, in a similar partnership to explore creating products and services to bolster the conglomerate’s electric vehicle push.

Under the new joint venture between TVS and Jio-bp, the two companies will explore the establishment of a regular AC charging network and a fast DC charging network in India, as well as harnessing their global expertise in electrification and apply them to the Indian market via physical and digital approaches.

Jio-bp operates its electric vehicle charging and swapping stations under the Jio-bp pulse brand, which offers a seamless way to find nearby charging stations. Additionally, the company is also working on various frameworks to help stakeholders in the electric vehicle value chain by creating a sustainable charging ecosystem for electric vehicles.

TVS Motor Company has made significant progress in the development of new electric mobility products and related technologies in the recent past. The company offers the TVS iQube electric scooter in the country and has sold over 12,000 units.

Additionally, the company has also committed ₹1,000 crore to its EV business as it prepares a comprehensive portfolio of two- and three-wheelers in the 5-25kW range, all of which will hit the market within the next 24 months. .
