Waitr partners with 7-Eleven to expand its delivery options

US-based food delivery platform Waitr has partnered with multinational convenience store chain 7-Eleven to expand its delivery options.

The national collaboration with 7-Eleven is intended to provide Waitr customers with more delivery options. As part of the agreement, Waitr, together with Bite Squad and Delivery Dudes, will deliver from more than 700 7-Eleven stores.

7-Eleven currently operates more than 13,000 convenience stores in the US and Canada.

Waitr CEO and chairman of the board Carl Grimstad said: “The addition of 7-Eleven to our platform represents the newest example of our ongoing commitment to expand into new delivery verticals.

“This partnership creates a new level of convenience for our customers. Effective immediately, we will be able to deliver your favourite food and snacks from hundreds of 7-Eleven locations directly to you.”

Based in Lafayette, Louisiana, Waitr provides delivery, takeaway and eat-in options in more than 1,000 cities across the US. The company has more than 26,000 restaurants registered on its platform.

Last year, Waitr expanded its areas of service in the on-demand delivery sector by launching in more than 90 new cities. 7-Eleven senior vice-president and chief digital officer Raghu Mahadevan said: “We’re excited to reach and serve our customers on Waitr with what they want – when, where and how they want it.

“We look forward to bringing fan-favourite 7-Eleven products – like ice-cold Slurpee drinks, hot pizza or ice cream– to even more customers across the country.”

In November last year, US-based online alcohol retailer and on-demand delivery platform Drizly partnered with 7-Eleven to launch an expedited alcohol delivery service. The service delivers alcohol within an hour to customers in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

It was rolled out following a successful trial at 190 stores.
