The Co-op extends UK Deliveroo tie-up for three years

The Co-op has extended its partnership with Deliveroo for a further three years and plans to add another 110 stores to the platform by the end of the year.

The expansion means that 1,400 Co-op stores will be offering grocery delivery through Deliveroo.

Cities including Nottingham, Liverpool, Swansea and Southampton will benefit from the service by the end of the year.

The Co-op, which has sold via Deliveroo since 2017, will also roll out Deliveroo Signature following a successful trial. This allows customers to order via The Co-op website for Deliveroo delivery.

The Co-op ecommerce director Chris Conway said: “Co-op is committed to exploring new and innovative ways to serve our members and customers, they lead busy lives and so ease, speed and convenience is at the heart of our approach

“As a convenience retailer, the ability to come into stores will always be important to customers, but we also know that shoppers want flexible and convenient options online, and so we are focused on providing what our customers want and need, however and wherever they choose to shop with us.”

Deliveroo chief business officer for the UK & Ireland Carlo Mocci said: “Co-op is one of Deliveroo’s largest on-demand grocery partnerships and it continues to be a huge success.

Deliveroo’s riders have brought countless pints of milk, bananas and meal-time staples to households throughout the UK, helping to rescue tea time, picnic plans and more.”
