Spanish retailer DIA focuses on loss prevention

Distribuidora Internacional de Alimentación a Multinational discount food retailer has overhauled its’acoustic-magnetic merchandise loss prevention systems (DIA) selecting electronic article surveillance (EAS) systems to improve merchandise availability at its 2,600 Spain-based stores. The fast growing retailer will be replacing all acousto-magnetic (AM) EAS pedestals with the radio frequency (RF) based systems of provider, Checkpoint Systems.

In addition, its technology switch to RF will enable it to easily adopt so-called ‘track and trace’ radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies in the future. To further protect its high-risk merchandise, DIA has also licensed Checkpoint’s Alpha High Theft Solutions Keepers - the plastic boxes used to encase high value products. DIA has nearly 7,000 stores across Spain, France, Portugal, Turkey, Argentina, Brazil, and China.
