Circle K selects Teneo AI platform to enhance shopping experience

Convenience and fuel retail business Circle K has partnered with technology firm Artificial Solutions to use artificial intelligence (AI) development platform, Teneo.

Teneo supports businesses in creating advanced natural language applications in 35 languages.

The retailer plans to develop conversational applications, to enhance the shopping experience of its convenience retail customers, in Scandinavia and the Baltic States.

Circle K senior director CCC & business enablement Michael Lindbäck said: “Conversational interfaces are a key technology for the future. They simplify life for customers. We chose to work with Artificial Solutions because they could demonstrate within very short timescales the depth and power of Teneo’s capabilities for a global company, that far exceeded our experience of other conversational development products.”

Circle K will use Teneo master and local system to introduce the initial application in Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian languages.

The local system allows companies to create applications in one language and migrate them to other languages by making minimal changes to the original build. The application will also become available in additional languages in the next months.

Artificial Solutions Nordics sales director Stuart Glyde said: “We’re delighted to be working with Circle K and help them take full advantage of the benefits that conversational AI has to offer global businesses. Teneo’s humanlike, conversational ability allows enterprises to develop richer customer experiences that increase engagement and drive loyalty.”

Circle K currently operates around 16,000 convenience and fuel retail stores globally.

In December this year, Alimentation Couche-Tard, the parent company of Circle K, signed an agreement with CrossAmerica Partners to divest 192 stores for approximately $184.5m.
