The turnover of stores in service stations in Spain and Portugal increased by around 7 per cent in 2022, equaling the figure recorded in 2019, according to estimates by the DBK Sector Observatory of Informa D&B.
The data indicates good results during the first half of 2022 and a decline in demand in the second half of the year, reflecting the loss of household purchasing power caused by inflation and higher fuel prices.
In 2021, this sector entered 1,130 million euros, 15.3 per 100 more than the previous year, in which, with a record of 980 million, turnover had been reduced by 19 per 100 compared to 2021, the year in which 1,210 million euros were invoiced.
The number of stores located at fuel stations has increased by around a hundred since 2019, giving a current figure of approximately 7,820. With this figure it is estimated that about 70 per cent of stations in Spain have a point of sale of consumer goods, of which 72 per cent are concentrated among the five leading companies.
