KMG opens filling station number 76 in Moldova

The Netherlands-based group KMG International NV said on Monday it opened its eighth filling station in Moldova's capital Chisinau through its local unit, Rompetrol Moldova, and plans to open two more in the near future.The company now operates a total of 76 filling stations in Moldova.

KMG International created some 120 jobs in the filling stations it opened this year in Moldova, the company said in a press release. Eight of the eleven filling stations inaugurated in 2016 are located in Chisinau, with the rest located in the counties of Donduseni, Orhei and Comrat.

KMG International also said it aims to continue expanding its network in Moldova as well as the modernization of existing outlets, including opening new stores inside gas stations. The company is sticking to its plan unveiled in July, which envisages the opening of 10 new filling stations in the first half of 2016 and adding five more by the end of the year.

At the end of 2015, Rompetrol Moldova completed six new filling stations and created some 50 workplaces. Rompetrol Moldova has been active on the local market since 2002 and has more than 700 employees. Besides the 76 filling stations, the company also operates 4 own LPG stations, a petroleum storage facility in Chisinau and a LPG storage facility in the village of Tarnova, in Donduseni county.

KMG International NV, formerly Rompetrol Group, is fully owned by Kazakh state-owned energy company KazMunaiGaz Group. Its main asset is Romania-based Rompetrol Rafinare, which operates the Petromidia refinery.
