Shell and KFC come together in Germany

Shell Deutschland GmbH and KFC Germany have jointly commissioned the first Shell Recharge ultrafast charging points at a restaurant of the chain in Giessen.

A total of six charging points have been established for customers to charge their electric vehicles (EV) with up to a 300 kW charging potency. The site is the first of 23 KFC locations near freeways across Germany where Shell Recharge sites will be installed, resulting in a total of 120 DC charging points in the coming years.

“Shell and KFC have a long-standing strategic partnership in the C-Store retail business and I am delighted that we are opening a new chapter together today.

By commissioning the first Shell Recharge charging points at KFC in Europe, we want to work together to drive forward the energy transition and thus make it easier for drivers to switch to an electric vehicle,” said Tobias Bahnsen, Head of Shell E-mobility and responsible for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

This new expansion of the Recharge brand is part of the strategic plan of the company to reach net zero emissions by 2050. To achieve this, one of Shell’s goals is to operate over 70,000 public charging points worldwide by 2025 and over 200,000 by 2030.
